Three little sisters & their mom didn't think they were Deaf.

 Betza Katy Sahadia 4
But they are; can't hear a thing. Betza - 7 years old, Katy - 5 years old and Sahadia - 4 years old.

It has been a slow process but their mom has finally allowed them all to come to class. At first, she didn't admit any of them were Deaf. Then she said just the oldest was Deaf. After more than a year, she saw the progress Betza was making in classes and allowed Katy to come. Then we discovered there was a third sister, and that she Deaf too.

The changes in their personalities have been profound after just a few weeks in class. We keep trying to get mom to come to class and learn sign sign language, but she doesn't realize the importance. Although mom has only come twice so far, she is allowing all 3 to come to class the girls. That is major progress. With time we hope she'll realize the importance of communicating with her daughters.

We are happy for the opportunity to teach these sweet little little girls how to communicate, and to introduce them to God. Please pray for them, and for their mom. May God continue to bring this family along, for His glory and honor!

Present day heroes, in Jesus de Otoro...

J de O on stage Hot, dusty, with 1 paved road and about 2000 people - that is the town of Jesus de Otoro. But we have discovered treasure there, in the persons of four Christian leaders. Everywhere we work, we do it with local Christians. Our goal is to establish ongoing works with the Deaf that will continue without our presence.

Liliam is a mom of 4 daughters and works in her family business as well as teaching. Their oldest child is wheelchair bound and Liliam is president of the local "parents of children with disabilities association". On top of this, she coordinates all of work in her town, as well as a ministry that distributes wheelchairs.

Gladis is a public school teacher and mom of a 16 year old Deaf boy. In addition to teaching 5 days a week and being a housewife & mother, she has begun a Saturday morning class for Deaf children.

Antonio and Iris are a married couple with 2 hearing children. Antonio has just completed studies for working with disabled children. They have been faithful in building relationships with nearby Deaf children and their families, and bringing them to classes. They also bring their hearing children to our classes.

When we started working in Jesus de Otoro, there was no work of any kind with the Deaf in their area. Now thanks to these heroes, they have progressed to holding a 2nd weekly class without us, while we work in a new city. That's great! Please pray that God will continue to open doors into more communities, and that He will raise up more local leaders like these to take charge.

Good Word Ministries relies on our Lord to provide for our support, books, Bibles, and all the teaching supplies that we hand out to the Deaf and children with disabilities in Honduras on a daily bases.
